Guest Post The Scorpion’s Empress

scorpionsbanner

Please welcome Yoshiyuki Ly, author of “The Scorpion’s Empress” as my guest today. I’ll leave the word to Yoshiyuki now.

Guest Post

Hey there, my name’s Yoshiyuki Ly and I’m excited to post about my upcoming book, The Scorpion’s Empress! For my guest post, here’s a more candid summary of the two leads in the story.
Raj Mangala is the self-proclaimed Empress of the city’s lowtown, Elysium. She has street smarts, she’s compassionate, her people love her, and she has a troubled past that she doesn’t let show. She knows she’s in charge and she doesn’t let that power get to her head. Then there’s Ser Videl, a paladin of the city’s hightown, Eden. Anyone from the hightown who visits Elysium is colloquially called a scorpion, because it’s much hotter there compared to Eden, and they typically only go to cause trouble (imagine a scorpion looking to sting something).
I thought it would be interesting to have a typical knight character: noble, pious and honorable, and willing to sacrifice anything for the person she devotes herself to–even if that sacrifice was inherently evil. Raj and Videl both want the same things. Peace and stability. Their relationship ultimately lets them reach out and affect the city’s revolution. There’s an explicit power play in their relationship that reflects in the book’s title. As it’s more of an emotional and mental dynamic between them, I make sure to show them as equals who just so happen to like the things that they’re into.

If you’d like to see how everything comes together, keep an eye out for my book’s release on June 1st.

About the Book

The Scorpion's EmpressTitle: The Scorpion’s Empress

Author: Yoshiyuki Ly

Genre: Erotic Romance

After years of serving a corrupt government, Ser Videl, an idealistic paladin, learns that her younger sister is tangled in a dark scheme against Raj Mangala, the compassionate yet troubled empress of the city’s oppressed lowtown; the two women meet and are deeply drawn to one another, finding a shared sanctuary in their violently-divided city. The Scorpion’s Empress is intimately written through the eyes of both twenty-seven year old women.

Videl’s loving devotion is just what Raj craves, but Raj is wary of letting her guard down while protecting her throne. Determined to prove her worth, Videl chases after Raj and works to unravel the mystery of the plots against the empress. Raj wants Videl to serve her emotional and sexual needs, and the two explore a meaningful relationship of dominance and submission that delves fully into their deepest wants. When the conspiracy against Raj comes to a head, Videl’s loyalties are tested when she is forced to choose between her past and her empress.

Author Interview Her Love & Regrets

herloveregretsbanner
Have you been writing for a long time?

Like most writers, I’ve been writing since childhood. Her Love and Regrets (and the accompanying books that complete the trilogy) is my first foray into novel writing. I have written for Emmy Award-winning television and live theater for over twenty years-with my first script actually produced when I was eighteen. But this was from start to finish-a love project. There was a freedom to this process that I haven’t enjoyed for a long time.

What inspired you to start a writing career?

I’ve always been intrigued by the human condition and the contradictions within each of us as we navigate our own angels and demons. That dichotomy is what I love to explore. But emotional truth is the core of every story I tell. I want readers to feel connected to the characters and their journeys.
Is this book a stand alone or part of a series?
Her Love and Regrets started as a single idea. But as the book took shape, I realized I couldn’t let these characters go. Before I knew it, His Pleasures and Pain and Their Now and Forever had taken shape and the Allen Trilogy came to life in unexpected ways.

Why did you choose this genre?

It seemed to be the one that best suited the levels of storytelling I wanted to develop. As I said, this started as I watched a couple and grew from there. Yes, it could have been something else, but ultimately who we choose to share our hearts with (or our beds) can be very revealing about who we are… don’t you think?
Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?

Just write. Find time, whether its five minutes or five hours-write. This is how you hone your skills. Even if you don’t sell a single book, you must embrace your craft. Strengthen the areas of weakness and celebrate your strengths. But more important, be prepared to listen so that you can find your own voice.

Janine soon discovers just how Dominant Michael’s become in their years apart as he takes her further into BDSM play. Author Bio

Chevelle Allen is the pen name of an exciting new author whose professional background includes writing for Emmy Award winning television. Unleashing her alter ego, Chevelle creates vivid characters and compelling narratives that leave you engaged, blushing and begging for more. Author Interview The Horse List

horselistbanner

I’m interviewing Anna Lores, author of erotic romance / romantic suspense “The Horse List” today. Welcome to my blog!

1) Have you been writing for a long time?

I’ve always done some kind of writing, but it was mostly love letters and poems for a special person in my life. It wasn’t until about five years ago I decided to write some of the novels I had inside my head. I called up a reader friend and began the ups and downs of the writing journey.

2) What inspired you to start a writing career?

In 2008, I began having trouble sleeping.  It turned out I had/have insomnia. I began reading more and more while everyone else was snoozing in the house. Ideas for worlds of my own, characters, plots, subplots, and more began developing in my mind. I grabbed my son’s laptop, compelled to write. I called a friend to read my stuff, knowing she would give honest feedback. She did and that is where it all started.

3) Is this book a stand alone or part of a series?

The Horse List is the first of a three-part series about Veterinarian Ava Black’s journey to fulfill her sexual fantasies. The second book, The Horse List Challenge, is being released April, 1, 2016. The last book in the trilogy, The Horse List Unveiled, will be released June 1, 2016.

4) Why did you choose erotic romance as a genre?

I’ve always been an avid reader. I’ve always gravitated toward the love story in novels. As a young girl, I made up my own spicy backstory of the characters in The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Erotic romance is a genre with wonderful plotlines, interesting characters, and can have light to heavy blow-your-mind spicy sex in it. I love that there is every sub-category in Erotica and the possibilities for stories are endless. Let’s just say, I connected as a reader with the fabulous erotic authors out there and wanted to join them as an author.

5) Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?

My advice is to write, write and write some more. Hone your craft. Find your voice or voices. Immerse yourself in your characters’ lives while you’re writing. Cry with them. Laugh with them. Put away the negative voices that keep you from writing what you want. Don’t forget that being a writer is as subjective a job as reading. We all don’t like the same things, that’s why we have a bazillion different genres, sub-genres, and authors. Find beta readers in your genre and be open to their feedback. They’re your target audience. Get a thick skin, if you don’t already have one, but not too thick. Never forget that feeling of pain, loss, heartache, joy, triumph, and love.  Those emotions let us know we’re alive, and with that, we have time left to write.

About the Book

TheHorseListcover.annaloresTitle: The Horse List

Author: Anna Lores

Genre: Erotic Romance / Romantic Suspense

Recently divorced from an abusive husband still intent to control her, Ava Black has two weeks before she moves back to her conservative hometown.

Encouraged by her best friend, she resurrects the wish list she started as a young girl when her number one desire was her very own horse. Over the years, The Horse List had become a mature list of her most erotic fantasies and a symbol of her rebirth as an independent woman. She can complete some of the items alone, but not everything. She needs an experienced partner with resources and the connections to places she’s only dreamed of going.

Could the handsome and wealthy artist Eric North be the partner she seeks? Will her drive to complete the list be enough to overcome her fear of him discovering the scars left from years of abuse? Will Eric protect her from her ex-husband, or will she go home to start over and give up her one chance to complete The Horse List?

Author Bio

Anna started writing romance as a by-product of insomnia. After a year of late night reading, she borrowed her son’s laptop after he went to bed each night, and set about breathing life to her very own characters. After a month of writing in the middle of the night, she was surprised with a new laptop of her own to pursue her dreams. With a B.A. in English Literature and a desire to fill her world with wonderful stories she and her close friends could not just talk about, but gush over, she shed her job as mom of three in the late night hours and assumed her alter ego of dirty girl.

Author Interview Degrees of Control

Author Interview

Have you been writing for a long time?
Off and on for about six years. I’m also a freelance journalist which means that I’ve been writing for quite a while in a lot of different publications, mostly about giant pumpkins and politics.
What inspired you to start a writing career?
I had so many ideas for novels piling up in my brain and one day I decided, more for fun than anything else, that I would try and write a book. I haven’t stopped since.
Is this book a stand alone or part of a series?
Degrees of Control is a stand alone novel although I’ve toyed with bringing the characters back for a novella type encore. I just love Charlie and James. I really miss writing about their lives.
Why did you choose romance?
I’m a huge fan of the genre. There’s nothing I love more than curling up with a well written romance and a cup of tea. I guess when I sat down with my own ideas I wanted to write the kind of stories that I enjoy reading. I also think romance is such an important genre for women; a safe place where they can explore their fantasies and desires.
Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Write as often as you can and don’t stop, especially when you think the story is rubbish and not worth completing. For me this happens practically every day during a first and second draft and I’ve learned to trust my abilities and keep going. I weep for all the amazing novels I’ll never read because the author lost heart and didn’t persevere. Remember; editing can fix everything.

About the Book

Book coverTitle: Degrees of Control

Author: Eve Dangerfield

Genre: Romance

Charlotte Bell is a typical yoga teacher. She’s friendly, earnest and has some slight masochistic tendencies. After a painful break-up she’s determined to address her long-denied kinks with the kind of man she’s always been too terrified to approch. Her friends have select James Hunter a male model turned corporate suit and after a ‘chance’ encounter at a party, James agrees to school Charlie in the harsher side of sex. He knows she’s too genuine, too kind, too everything for a guy like him but he won’t turn down an opportunity to break in a starry-eyed submissive like her. Yet as Charlie and James embark on a strings-free sexual relationship they discover a connection that runs deeper than either of them could have imagined.

Author Bio

Author picEve Dangerfield has loved romance novels since she first started swiping her grandmother’s paperbacks at the age of fourteen. Now she writes her own unapologetically sexy tales about complex women and gorgeous-but-slightly-tortured men. Eve currently lives in Melbourne with her lovely sister, extremely chill boyfriend and a rabbit named Billy. When she’s not writing she can usually be found drinking, dancing or making a mess. Often all at once. Degrees of Control is her first novel.

Author Interview Ms. Nice Nasty: Cam’s Confession

msnicenastybanner

Today I’m interviewing Lakisha Johnson, author of romance novel “Ms. Nice Nasty: Cam’s Confession”. Welcome!

Have you been writing for a long time?
  – I’ve been writing books for about 4 years now. I started with a self-published devotional book titled, Doses of Devotional and from there, fiction books. I don’t know how it flipped from one genre to the next but it happened. I am still writing both (because I have a love for both) but as for writing for about 4 years.

What inspired you to start a writing career?
  – Again, it all ties back to my devotional. I know it sounds crazy but I started writing books because I first started off blogging which I still do today. I have a devotional blog and eventually took some of those devotionals and made them into a devotional book thus starting my writing career as a author.

Is this your first book? If not, can you tell us about your first book?

  – No, my first book is called A Secret Worth Keeping. It’s about 6 friends who all share a common secret which is the love of sex (outside of their marriage). They are all career women, some have husbands and children yet they are never satisfied. They are enjoying keeping the secret until it becomes too much to handle. Camille of Ms. Nice Nasty is actually one of the characters from A Secret Worth Keeping.

Why did you choose romance as a genre to write in?
  – This genre actually found me. When I initially set out to write, I didn’t have a certain genre in mind, I just sat down at my computer and started writing and out came A Secret Worth Keeping. It is my hope to one day write within another genre because I don’t believe my talent is limited to just this one.

Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
  – On my postcards that I use for marketing, I wrote; “Don’t ever allow the ink to run dry in your pen. The only person who can stop you from becoming who want to be is you.” That still holds true. I will tell any aspiring author to don’t stop. Is it easy, hell no! Is there a lot of money to be made, yes; eventually. However, stop looking at someone else story like it’s yours. Make your own reality and hustle for yours. The only way someone who doesn’t know you will know you is if you tell them. Stop waiting on someone else to introduce you.

Do you have any works in progress you’d like to tell us about?
  – I am currently working on Ms. Nice Nasty part 2. It is my hope that it is out by Oct/Nov.

About the Book

11791849_861706553917678_840585635_nTitle: Ms. Nice Nasty: Cam’s Confession

Author: LaKisha Johnson

Genre: Romance

What is it with secrets, sex, lies and did I mention sex?

For Camille, she has had her fair share of them all. From A Secret Worth Keeping to Ms. Nice Nasty. What’s next? Yea, she has always proclaimed to be “unapologetically Cam” but when it seems like the world around her is beginning to tumble down, she has to face some real truths about whom she really is and who she wants to be.

With the help or the badgering of her therapist, Camille is able to finally confront a demon from her past. She, tearfully, admits the ultimate betrayal that forced her to hide the person she once was and become the person we’ve grown to love (or hate).

In, Cam’s Confession, we get to see how the façade of Cam was created to mask her pain and how it’s become first nature. Yes, in the courtroom, Camille commands the attention but in the bedroom; it’s Cam that is laying down the law!

You got to know Cam in A Secret Worth Keeping and even better in Ms. Nice Nasty but in this special edition of Ms. Nice Nasty, Cam’s Confession; Camille finally breaks her silence and lets you in on a little more of her personal life. She’s still the erotic vixen you love to hate but is she ready to let Cam go in order to save her marriage and possibly her career? Will therapy finally give her the breakthrough she needs to let the secret life go? Or will Cam still be in denial about it all? Find out in this 11,000 word addition of Ms. Nice Nasty. Also, get a sneak peek into Ms. Nice Nasty 2 with a look into the first two unedited chapters.
