Today I’m interviewing Tanille Edwards, author of YA romance “Broken”. Welcome, and happy holidays.
1) Have you been writing for a long time? What inspired you to start a writing career?
I have been writing for several years. I started out writing screenplays when I was almost 16. I realized I wanted my stories to touch people. When I first came up with the idea for Broken, I then new I had to become a novel writer.
2) Is Broken your first book? If not, please tell us a little about your first book.
Broken is my second YA title. I also have another book, Cameo. Cameo is a thriller about a young high school student being stalked by a secret society. She doesn’t believe it at first but she is the target. Nia is an interesting character. Unlike Milan from Broken, think she knows everything and really kind of has to learn to let her guard down a little.
3) Why did you choose YA romance as genre for your book? I knew from day 1
4) Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Never give up. Constantly ask yourself what are you trying to communicate to the reader. Keep rewriting. And unleash your most creative self. That is the part people can most connect with.
5) Do you have any works in progress you’d like to tell us about?
I am working on Broken 2. There are a lot role reversals. Also aspects of Milan that don’t come to light as often in Broken play a more important role in her develop in Broken 2. It is full of surprises. Still working:)
